Craig Venter’s vision to print life, generate vaccines

cventer

Craig Venter imagines a future where you can download software, print a vaccine and inject it at home, contagion averted. “It’s a 3-D printer for DNA, a 3-D printer for life,” Venter said at the Wired Health Conference. Venter says he is already testing a version of his digital biological converter, designed for what he calls “biological teleportation.” It’s technologically plausible. The major challenge, he concedes would be potential printing “bugs” and securing regulatory approval, which could prove daunting.
