The difference is at the genetic level – the GMO maize has been changed by addition of an insecticidal gene taken form a bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis to kill lepidopteran pests feed-

Please do not equate GMO with Bt containing. There are literally thousands of extant and different transgenic maize lines synthesized. Only a handful are on the market. (There is also the issue of how one defines GMO — a terrible term because technically it includes all genetic modification, including breeding, selection by man and natural mutation, but I let that problem go for this discussion.) .
I can see it! The kernels on the left used less natural resources to grow and resulted in widely available, less expensive food. The kernels on the right were made with an extra portion of resources and used to make products only a wealthy elite can afford. Expensive food always tastes better to those who choose to buy it.
