Meat DNA test isn’t workable onlarge scale

The horse-meat scandal in the U.K. and Ireland has forced suppliers, processors and retailers to publicly apologize for the contamination and pledge to make better use of DNA testing on their products to ensure it never happens again.

But while the dearth of DNA testing is bearing partial blame for the scandal, avoiding another food scare with testing isn’t likely, because testing isn’t easy or cost-effective.
